چکیده
Background & AimsGamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) is a serum marker of cholestasis. We investigated whether level GGT prognostic for patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).MethodsWe analyzed data from PBC the Global Study Group, comprising 14 centers in Europe and North America. obtained measurements at baseline time points after treatment. used Cox model hazard ratios to evaluate association between clinical outcomes, including liver transplantation liver-related death.ResultsOf 2129 included our analysis, 281 (13%) had endpoint. Mean age diagnosis was 53 years 91% were female patients. found correlation levels alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (r = 0.71). Based on collected yearly up 5 years, higher associated lower transplant-free survival. Serum 12 months treatment than 3.2-fold upper limit normal (ULN) identified who required or death 10 an area under receiver operating characteristic curve 0.70. The risk above ULN, despite ALP 1.5-fold compared ULN (P < .05). Including information increased value Globe score.ConclusionsSerum can be identify death, increase measurement. Our findings support use as endpoint trials. In low ALP, high identifies those might require metabolic disorders escalation. Gamma-glutamyltransferase (PBC). death. Of score.

Efficacy of liver transplantation in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis.
No controlled trials have been performed to assess the efficacy of liver transplantation. Because of the marked improvement in survival after liver transplantation since 1981, random assignment of patients to a control group not undergoing transplantation is considered clinically inappropriate. To assess the efficacy of liver transplantation in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis, we compar...
متن کاملGamma glutamyl transferase.
Serum gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) has been widely used as an index of liver dysfunction and marker of alcohol intake. The last few years have seen improvements in these areas and advances in understanding of its physiological role in counteracting oxidative stress by breaking down extracellular glutathione and making its component amino acids available to the cells. Conditions that increas...
متن کاملRisk factors for recurrence of primary biliary cholangitis after liver transplantation in female patients: A Japanese multicenter retrospective study
Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is diagnosed mainly in female individuals, and risk factors for PBC recurrence (rPBC) after liver transplantation (LT) from cadaveric donors have been reported. We conducted a retrospective multicenter study of rPBC in female patients after living-donor LT (LDLT). A total of 388 female patients undergoing LDLT for end-stage PBC were enrolled, and the effects of...

Objective. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels, cerebrovascular risk factors, and distribution of cerebral infarct areas in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Patients and Methods. Sixty patients with AIS and 44 controls who had not cerebrovascular disease were included in the study. The patients were divided into fou...
